Construction site
Here is a series of questions and answers about this construction site, methods used, working hours and the equipment deployed on and around Place Victoria.
How long will the work take?
We expect work to last between 40 and 48 months. This means that everything should normally be completed by the end of summer 2027. Updates on the overall advancement status will be updated ona regular basis.
Will the construction site generate a lot of noise?
For now, work that was carried out on floors 4 and 5 did not cause much noise disturbance in the area. When work on higher floors start, on the other hand, it could be felt by the residents of the new condos on rue Saint-Jacques (little occupied for the moment) and by the tenants of Place Victoria, in the blocks of floors where work will be performed.
Will there be a lot of dust in the neighborhood?
Our masonry professionals are true experts in containing emissions into the atmosphere. To achieve this, they install airtight airlocks surronding lifting platforms, which considerably limits the emission of dust and residues in the neighborhood.
Mitigation actions
A construction site of this magnitude brings to its share of inconvenience for the surrounding community. Place Victoria could deploy mitigation measures as needed as the construction site and project evolve.
How will you control work schedules for contractors?
Sub-contractors assigned to this renovation project are subject to strict working hours. They must follow municipal regulations which require to start no earlier than 7:30 AM. Work must end no later than 11:00 PM and there can be no night work. That said, the Place Victoria project management team holds a daily meeting with the subcontractors to check their schedules and their comings and goings for the day.
